Dredging off West Coast of Lamma Island

For approximately six months, dredging operations [are being] carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (G):
(A) 22 deg. 13.234’N / 114 deg. 06.042’E
(B) 22 deg. 11.000’N / 114 deg. 06.423’E
(C) 22 deg. 10.961’N / 114 deg. 06.277’E
(D) 22 deg. 12.214’N / 114 deg. 06.063’E
(E) 22 deg. 12.728’N / 114 deg. 05.723’E
(F) 22 deg. 13.075’N / 114 deg. 05.710’E
(G) 22 deg. 13.199’N / 114 deg. 05.806’E
The works [are being] carried out by a flotilla of vessels including one trailing suction hopper dredger, two tugboats, two grab dredgers and two split hopper barges. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.
A working area of approximately 50 metres around the grab dredger [is] established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights [are] laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the dredger.
The works [are being] carried out round-the-clock.
Vessels engaged in the operations display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Tung Chung New Town extension project marine works off Pak Mong, Lantau Island

For approximately 6 months, marine works involving construction of cofferdam and ground investigation [are being] carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 17.995’N / 113 deg. 58.147’E
(B) 22 deg. 18.101’N / 113 deg. 58.149’E
(C) 22 deg. 18.220’N / 113 deg. 58.351’E
(D) 22 deg. 18.170’N / 113 deg. 58.536’E
The works [are being] carried out by one crane barge, one backhoe barge and two jack-up barges. One tugboat and one work boat [are providing] assistance. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.
A working area of approximately 50 metres [is] established around each working vessel. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights [are] laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the working vessels.
Yellow flashing lights [are] installed at the corners of the jack-up barges to indicate the positions of the jack-up barges.
The hours of work [are] from 0800 to 1800 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.
Vessels engaged in the operations display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Permissible draft at berth

The maximum possible draft for Berth No.14 is increased to 14 metres with 1 metre height of rising tide, due to the water depth at berth face.

Closure of oil pier for repairs

Karachi Port Trust has advised that Oil Pier-1 is closed and under the process of repair/maintenance.
According to the notification dated 19 February 2020, after completion of initial temporary repairs, small sized oil tankers will be accommodated on a test & trial basis to ascertain the safety measures. In the next phase, larger vessels will be gradually accommodated.

Handling vessels at Inner Harbour

With reference to handling vessels with beam 38.00 metres to and from Inner Harbour, they can be handled under the following conditions:
LOA up to 240 metres (Note: max LOA berthed at VGCB and OB with 38 metres beam)
Availability of Operational PPU.
Availability of 2 private and one port 50 ton tugs.
Can be handled only in daylight.
Max permissible draft is 14.5 metres.
For carrying out movements Shipyard Dolphin Jetty, HSY EQ Way, CB, BB 1, 2 & 3 to be vacant.
Light vessel draft requirement forward 5.85 metres (Note: average fwd sailing draft from VGCB of vessels about 240 metres LOA) with propeller fully submerged.
Will be handled only in fair weather conditions.
Further handling at 14.7 metres salt water draft vessels will be considered on a case-to-case basis, keeping in view the depth at the berth, approaches and tide available as dock water draft shall be around 14.90 metres.

Port re-opened

The Port of Dampier was opened with caution at 0600 hours local time this morning (11 February) after the passage of Tropical Cyclone Damien.
Terminal operators and Masters must make their own assessments for berthing, taking into consideration prevailing weather and swell conditions, and have contingency plans in place for emergency scenarios.

Prevention/control of transmission of 2019 novel corona virus

Palawan Provincial Ordinance No.2219-20 states that all local government units within the territorial jurisdiction of the province of Palawan shall observe the strict implementation of policies and practices to prevent the transmission of novel corona virus.
The Ordinance underlines the need for mandatory self-isolation for individuals experiencing symptoms that could be a sign of the virus. It also urges the prohibition of travel outside Palawan and monitoring of tourists.
Further, anyone who has been to any part of China, including its Special Administrative Regions, within 14 days prior to arrival at their port of entry is temporarily banned from entering the province, except permanent residents of Filipino Nationals, who shall be quarantined or voluntarily self-isolated for such number of days as the local health officer shall determine.
The Bureau of Quarantine shall conduct boarding formalities, quarantine, inspection/examination, surveillance and clearance on all vessels (passenger/cruise ship, cargo, container, bulk carrier, tanker, etc.) calling on ports in Palawan, regardless of whether cleared already in other ports in the country.
Vessels calling in the province’s ports must complete a Health Declaration checklist for all passengers and crew.
