Controlled crew changes

India’s Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai, has published a Frequently Asked Questions document about precautionary measures and restrictions related to controlled crew changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lifting & amendment of curfew
Saturday, May 2, 2020, Sri Lanka

Lifting and imposing of the curfew at district level in Sri Lanka will be done as follows:

In the districts of Colombo (where Port of Colombo is), Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam, the curfew remains until further notice. While the curfew is in effect, resumption of civilian life, and state & private sector activities are expected to begin from Monday, 11 May.

For all other districts (Ports Galle, Hambantota and Trincomalee) the current curfew in force since 8pm on 30 April will be lifted at 5am on Monday 4 May 5.00. Thereafter, it will only be in effect 8.00pm-5.00am daily until Wednesday 6 May. The curfew imposed at 8.00pm on Wednesday will continue until 5.00am on Monday 11 May (coinciding with the Vesak holidays).

Movements between districts will not be allowed except for essential services.

The status quo remains for crew changes in Sri Lanka and airports continue to be closed for arrivals until further notice.

Lockdown and State Health Emergency extended
Saturday, May 2, 2020, Maldives

The Government of Maldives has announced that the lockdown period has been extended until 14 May, and the State Health Emergency will continue until the end of May 2020.

There is currently no restriction on any type of cargo vessel calling at the port of Male. There may been a slight delay in loading/unloading of cargo due to procedures and safety measures required for each and every operation.

Crew sign-on/sign-off is still restricted. Airports are closed and traveling from one island to another is restricted.

Male city is in lockdown status, with permission from the authorities required for every personnel movement and operation.

Revised date for new Berthing Policy & Tariff Structure

Kattupalli Port has advised that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the implementation of the new Berthing Policy & Tariff Structure (BPTS) has been postponed.

It will now come into effect from 15 May, instead of 1 May as circulated earlier.
