Capes’ hiccups, Wets stagnation and Geopolitics coupled with Coronavirus fueling uncertainty

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) clinched eight points surpassing the 500 points threshold and now stands at 506,   thanks to the Capes’ fall – which sends disruptive market messages… Geopolitics get worse but the international public being “fed”, mainly with Coronavirus’ news,  fully ignores what’s really happening and what is looming in the background. John Faraclas’ daily recap post Bank Holiday (England and Wales) …err Spring Bank Holiday and Memorial Day (USA):

The Capes’ BCI  lost 17 points  since last Friday and now stands at 147 points – “hope” this is temporary, but…

The Panamaxes’ BPI was up 21 points and now reads 656 points…

Supras’ might soon go over and above the 500 points threshold; the BSI gained nine points and now stands at 495…

Still on an upwards mode, the Handies with the BHSI up eight points at 257.

Overall, a low dry market wiping earnings; CAUTION and watch out the volume of Chinese dry bulk imports.

Low levels for the Wets; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 718 – minus 17 and 580 – plus one point respectively. C A U T I O N!

The WTI as these lines are being written stands at US$33.90. Again, we are worried as this upheaval over the last five weeks will weaken everything and consumers given the circumstances might suffer.

The Cruise Industry in tatters with politicians creating more mess… Just for argument’s sake: How one allows Ro-Ro Pass Ferries operate in these days of Coronavirus’ relaxation of measures, how air-travel slowly slowly is allowed and Cruise ships cannot operate having the most organised healthy policy on-board…? Eh?

Geopolitics, under the wrong leaders, continue to deteriorate and given the Coronavirus (COVID-19) mess, everybody tries to hide the truth of developments on Planet Ocean:

First and foremost is the despicable issue with the MIGRANTS. This issue over the last eight or so years has turned Planet Ocean upside down with detrimental effects to all nations particularly in Europe  (Greece, Italy, Malta and Spain) and in the US/ Mexican border with multiple of tensions exceeding the “norm” but also destroying the social cohesion, particularly in small to medium size peaceful societies. We have covered like no other shipping medium this issue all over Europe with Greece being the epicentre of this mess, covering the Greek Aegean Islands by either news, live interviews or reports (pictures and drone coverage). Tonight and following an escalation of the despicable behaviour by the MIGRANTS, we are just mentioning the area of Malakasa in Attica – northeast of Athens where the locals and visitors are completely fed up with the way Greece and its masters in Brussels handle the situation. It is about time the authorities do something or we will be faced with uncontrolled developments, similar to those happening in mainly the Greek Aegean Islands. Amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the MIGRANTS there – and elsewhere totally ignore simple rules of life, hygiene being the number one, endangering the life of locals – not to mention setting alight parts of the camp and forest – check it and you will confirm our findings through investigation… No excuses please. Our message to the responsible and accountable authorities: Get your act together; end of the story. Same applies to German run European Union in Brussels whose leaders, on purpose cannot – as things stand, control Turkish president Erdogan who has one million MIGRANTS ready to send over to Europe….  There are three more million MIGRANTS, in total four awaiting to cross over; Shame!

The second most important Geopolitical issue is the intensions of president Erdogan of Turkey to destroy Peace in the wider periphery of Turkey – grosso motto one thousand miles. Already he is stirring up the Balkans – although the media keep conspicuously silent, Central Med – Libya, and the Middle East – Syria, Iraq and Cyprus are suffering from the Turkish unlawful means, fully jeopardising International Law and Treaties.

The third issue is the accumulation of trillions of dollars on top the global debt, now in the tune of US$ 260 (twohundredandsixty) trillion! It is beyond the Economy stupid! Any advice on what’s going to happen with this colossal debt which will soon go over and above the US$300 trillion given the worse Recession ever supported by the Coronavirus anathema…? Hence our las Friday maxim: “All change please! We are running out of time and money, unless we “borrow time” and “print money”…” (Thank you all for noticing this and your likes, messages and phone calls)

The EU continues to be in a mess; BREXIT, as per our prediction back in 2016, will turn Planet Ocean upside out…

At the other side of the Atlantic, things are getting sour – both in the North and South; watch it!

In the Far East, China is changing mood… CAUTION… Hong Kong might explode…

Africa still the same…

Mind the entire Southern Hemisphere as Coronavirus is spreading…

More news in our midweek recap tomorrow; until then have a nice evening and remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean.  Once again a big THANK YOU to all who really care for all humans – Doctors, Nurses, Seafarers et al during this Coronavirus disaster!! We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too.

P.S. Did I hear you say Malakasa?
