Dredging at Kwai Tsing Container Terminals 4, 6, 7 and 8 West

For approximately 12 months, dredging operations will be carried out in the following works areas:

WORKS AREA 1
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (E) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 20.378’N / 114 deg. 07.708’E
(B) 22 deg. 20.325’N / 114 deg. 07.726’E
(C) 22 deg. 20.228’N / 114 deg. 07.395’E
(D) 22 deg. 20.437’N / 114 deg. 07.324’E
(E) 22 deg. 20.445’N / 114 deg. 07.351’E

WORKS AREA 2
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (F) to (I), (J) to (O) with the adjacent shorelines:
(F) 22 deg. 19.703’N / 114 deg. 07.603’E
(G) 22 deg. 19.675’N / 114 deg. 07.613’E
(H) 22 deg. 19.706’N / 114 deg. 07.717’E
(I) 22 deg. 19.552’N / 114 deg. 07.769’E

The works will be carried out by one grab dredger. Two tug boats, three hopper barges and one survey boat will assist in the works. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around the grab dredger will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the grab dredger.

The hours of work will be round-the-clock.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Provinces extend smart lockdown

The Government of Sindh province has extended its smart lockdown for another month, until 15 August.

The Government of Balochistan province has also extended smart lockdown until 30 July.

Works at Tuas Western Coast

The working area for works at Tuas Western Coast have been revised, with effect from 20 July 2020 to 19 January 2021.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.046 of 2020 dated 16 July 2020, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays and Public Holidays – within the working areas bounded by the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

The work involves dredging and dumping operations, as well as:

Shifting and maintenance of navigational buoys
Shifting, installation and maintenance of temporary jetty within the working area
Construction and maintenance of silt barricade within working area
Removal of rocks at existing revetments and construction of rock revetments
Re-handling works within working area
Receiving of external sand
Survey: Pre/Post survey, Interim, Progress (Monthly) and 3 monthly survey
Transportation and dumping of dredged material from TWC to TTP2
Transportation and dumping of hard dredged material from TWC to Semakau Dumping Ground
Minor dredging works (high spot removal) by plower frame
A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other craft and vessels of the work.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control for assistance, if required.
