Excitement builds ahead of Friday’s opening of BOATS2020 presented by Southampton International Boat Show Ltd

British Marine, organisers of BOATS2020 are looking forward to the opening of the show this Friday 11 September, with the event running through until Sunday 20 September.

Government guidance continues to be closely monitored alongside Southampton City Council, who British Marine is working with to ensure that all Public Health England COVID-19 secure requirements are met. These include the new Government measures announced in yesterday’s Prime Minister’s briefing with the introduction of the ‘rule of six’.

Set in the safe and spacious outdoor environment of Mayflower Park, BOATS2020 showcases a boat for every skillset – from stand-up paddleboards and kayaks, to sail boats, power boats and aspirational luxury motor yachts. Over the course of 10 days, visitors can discover the very latest marine kit and equipment from over 130 marine brands and explore over 150 boats on display. The show will be officially opened by Councillor Satvir Kaur, Cabinet Member for Culture and Homes at Southampton City Council, together with well-known power boat sailor and adventurer Alan Priddy.

Lesley Robinson, CEO of British Marine, said; “The health, safety and security of visitors is the number one priority during the show. British Marine is working hard to ensure that everyone can enjoy themselves in a safe environment with all the necessary COVID-19 secure measures expected to ensure everyone’s safety and provide reassurance to all.

“Visitors to the show can therefore be reassured all guidance is being followed and enjoy the leading line up of new boats and marine products on show. We are looking forward to welcoming all visitors from Friday onwards.

Following the latest Government update, a new video has been created outlining the advice and measures in place at BOATS2020, this includes the introduction of dedicated COVID-19 marshals on site, ensuring that the new advice is followed for everyone’s safety.

The show will be open between the 11th – 20th September 2020. Tickets must be pre-booked at www.BOATS2020.co.uk.
