The BDI@1,297 sends the message; Wets still falling whilst Geopolitics and Coronavirus issues getting worse…
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 87 points since yesterday as well as the 1,300 points threshold. Wets still falling. No solutions to any Geopolitical issue whether big or small, to put it bluntly… Coronavirus might lock us all in… John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:
The Capes’ BCI was down 253 points losing both the 2,100 and 2,000 points thresholds and now stands at 1,903 points. It also looks certain that the 1,900 points threshold will be lost!
Minus three points for the Panamaxes BPI now at 1,297, losing yesterday’s “regained” 1,300 points threshold!
Once again, minimal loses but still loses for the Supras and the Handies. The BSI was down four at 958 and the BHSI two at 594 points respectively…
All in all, and despite we are entering the last month of Fall, 33 days “away” from the winter months and the Dry Market c a n n o t get its act together. AND: it is NOT due to Coronavirus!
The Wets still falling; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 416 – minus six and 312 – minus ten points respectively… Difficult days ahead…
The WTI lost 14 cents and now reads US$37.35; e x c e l l e n t!
Geopolitics on a red alert in almost all fronts:
MIGRANTS remain still on top and continue to make it messy for all given that there isn’t any coherent policy, particularly in Brussels cuckoo’s nest. The European Union and some of its powerful members, and a couple of “weak” ones, ostracize… They will all pay, one day, a hefty penalty and they are to blame one hundred centum.
Unfortunately, the faulty line from Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa continues to produce despicable mess.
Turkey goes over the top and no one can take its president’s seriousness. Erdogan’s premeditated policy all these years escalates in all fronts; here are some facts:
- Trying to bully Cyprus and Greece over the East Med and Aegean Sea rights respectively;
- Does not accept to sign the latest UNCLOS…
- Makes MoU with Libya – a state in limbo, and above all trespasses Greece’s marine zone…
- Interferes in the Balkans and the Middle East including the Arabian Peninsula;
- Interferes between the Armenian and Azerbaijani dispute, obviously supporting the Azeri…
- Proves an unreliable NATO member blackmailing the West AND EU by buying Russian-made S-400 batteries…
- Has aspirations in joining the European Union whilst its human rights records is zero and still occupies EU lands – Cyprus
- Blackmails the USA and Russia over Syria…
- Wishes to exterminate the Kurds in all four countries – Iran, Iraq, Syria and within Turkey were 20 (twenty) million live…
- Unfortunately uses religion as a weapon…
- Unfortunately gets involved with terrorism..
- Unfortunately is a bankrupt state with a few trillion of dollars debt and if its economy sinks completely, some EU rich states bank will go under…
- Last but not least, the language that its president uses against nations and leaders – France’s Macron for example, is monumentally despicable… remember how he behaved against Israel and its PM…
Enough as the list will never end. Soon he will turn the Balkans, Central and East Med – including parts of the Middle East in a bloodbath… All in all and on an international level, Turkey wishes to take a leading role in the Middle East, trying to cement its place as the dominant regional power; will Greece and Europe allow this? Will Israel remain put, or flex its muscles. Time will tell…
Despicable situations and attacks yet again today in France following the Samuel Paty death earlier this month; this MUST stop. Islamist extremism has NO place in any society. Religious leaders of all denominations MUST meet and hypocrisy MUST end. Any such religious motivated behaviour, from wherever same emanates, MUST end HERE and NOW. Racism from both sides too. See what happened in the USA and it’s still on…
Having said the above, EXPLOITATIONS (yes in plural) must also end; a MUST for all…
BREXIT remains an issue; many in the Continent as well as in the UK say it is about time to abandon BREXIT, even temporarily – five years they tell me, given also the Coronavirus (COVID-19) issue… Can this ever happen..? More thoughtful people and experts say that German rule in Brussels must end and Europe can find a better momentum… Don’t forget that in 1900 Europe was the real power on Planet Ocean…
The EU still in disarray – as stressed in the past, in almost all fronts…
In Belarus the public is calling for President Lukashenko to step down; music plays an important role like the turtle “anthem”… CAUTION as situ is dangerous and after all Putin’s Russia has its own agenda there; never forget this…
At the other side of the Atlantic we are witnessing an unprecedented election campaign and style, not to mention this pattern of early voting pattern… The prediction is that there will be a choice with a profound long term change within the USA and all over Planet Ocean. This obviously suggest and looks likely to a Joe Biden’s win, but Tramp is a tough cookie – although he will change at least 180 degrees; he can’t do otherwise… This is precisely what we said a few weeks ago as the day after for USA and Planet Ocean. Herculean tasks for a balancing act in running Planet Ocean… Watch this space as many things will …open the Pandora’s Box of Revelations…
In the Far East and in particular down in South China Sea, China continues to flex its muscles but regret no USA administration will allow this…
The tensions in the Sub-Continent are still looming in the background and both India and Pakistan have come close to War… A dangerous conflict as both countries can make use of nukes… CAUTION…
In Africa things are pretty much the same. This coming Sunday the 1st of November, there is going to be a referendum which might lead to a new Algeria; let’s hope so…
Ivory Coast too is having an election this coming Saturday amid tensions…
More issues might surface and lead to troubles with the Nile Dam, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which affects positively and negatively Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia itself.. There has been an involvement from many parties and sides; even president Trump has been involved with two of Americas allies in the region, Egypt and Ethiopia with the Ethiopians being very upset and the Egyptians even thinking of causing a mess to the GERD dam… CAUTION!
Coronavirus spreads and new measures are coming up in most countries. The politicians failed to understand that letting the economy move, they risked lives, and here we are, just about to face more lockdowns… These will further harm the Global Economy to an unimaginable effect… Pity!
On another tone and note we had:

Have a nice evening ensuring you continue to remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean. Once again a big THANK YOU to all who really care for all humans – Doctors, Nurses, Seafarers, Dockers, Port Authorities et al during this Coronavirus disaster!! We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too. Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let us work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is in red US$ 270 (twohundredandseventy) trillion…
