Terminal closed due to foul weather

Due to 18-22 knot winds, 4’ seas and a tropical depression in the area, the Buckeye Bahamas Terminal port status was downloaded from RESTRICTED to CLOSED at 1100 hours on Saturday (7 November).

Operating and berthing at all outer jetties is not possible at this time, but the inner berths are still available for operations.

Weather changes will be monitored closely and updates will be given when necessary.

Strike notice

The federation port & docks CGT this morning (9 November) filed notice of 24 hour work stoppage from 0001 hours tomorrow, Tuesday 10 November, until 0001 hours on Wednesday 11 November.

The strike notice also includes: no overtime or exceptional shifts, and work in strict compliance with security.

There will be no impact on the LNG terminal, Donges terminals and in Nantes.

Handling of iron ore, extension of concessional tariff

The Board of Trustees, Mormugao Port Trust, have resolved to extend the concession for handling of iron ore at West of Breakwater (WOB)… …with effect from 1 October 2020 till June 2021 or till last arrival of vessel at West of Breakwater, as weather/monsoon permits, during the export season 2020-2021.

The concessional tariff is applicable for import/export of iron ore on foreign/coastal vessels at WOB.

The concessional tariff is as below:

Utility boats based in Port of Fujairah

Utility boats based in Port of Fujairah are permitted to serve ships at Fujairah Offshore Anchorage Area only.

Strict action will be taken against the masters and companies who breach our regulations including cancellation of pilotage exemption license and Marine Charge Exemption licenses.

Revised COVID-19 measures
Monday, November 9, 2020, Bahamas

The Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Dr. Hubert Minnis, has announced revised measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, effective from today (9 November).

For New Providence and Abaco, the 24-hour weekend curfew is lifted. The curfew on Saturdays and Sundays will now be from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The weekday curfew will move to 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. This 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew will also apply to Grand Bahama on weekdays and at the weekends.

New measures for mainland Eleuthera (excluding Spanish Wells or Harbour Island) are:

A 24-hour weekend curfew, starting 6 p.m. on Fridays and ending 5 a.m. on Mondays.
From Monday to Friday, a daily curfew from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. Commercial activity will continue during non-curfew hours.
Closure of all bars and restaurants connected to bars.
All private and public social gatherings are prohibited.
Indoor church services are not permitted.
In-person classroom instruction of students is also prohibited.
Both may occur by virtual means only.
Funerals are to be a maximum of 10 people at the graveside excluding the officiant and caretakers.
Weddings are to be a maximum of 10 people excluding the officiant.
Receptions and repasts are prohibited.
Health officials will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation on Eleuthera.

Tropical Storm Eta
Monday, November 9, 2020, Southeastern Gulf of Mexico, United States

At 700am EST (1200 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Eta was located by an Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft and NOAA Doppler weather radars near latitude 25.0 North, longitude 82.9 West.

Eta is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h). A westward motion will continue this morning, followed by a west-southwestward motion with some reduction in forward speed this afternoon and tonight.

Little overall motion is forecast on Tuesday and a slow northward motion is expected on Wednesday. On the forecast track, the center of Eta will gradually move away from the Florida Keys and south Florida today, and will remain over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico tonight through Wednesday.

Data from the reconnaissance aircraft and Doppler radars indicate that maximum sustained winds remain near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next day or so, and Eta is forecast to become a hurricane when it moves over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 310 miles (500 km) from the center. A wind gust to 43 mph (69 km/h) was recently reported in Homestead, Florida…
