OCEANHUB Africa Pitch Competition Seeks Startups with Ocean Solutions

WOC Encourages Ocean Solution Providers to Participate in Ocean Innovation Africa Event

The World Ocean Council (WOC) is collaborating with OceanHub Africa to broaden the outreach to engage problem-solvers to take part in a pitch competition for African startups offering ocean-impact products and services at Ocean Innovation Africa, on 25 November 2020.

African-based startups (or operating in Africa with local offices) with disruptive business models and/or innovative products and services with direct or indirect positive impact on the ocean have the opportunity to feature in the pitch competition at Ocean Innovation Africa 2020.

Applications are done via a simple form accessible here and must be submitted before 23:59 SAST on Sunday 15 November

OceanHub Africa is working to showcase the vibtrant Blue Economy innovation space in Africa, provide startups more visibility and inspire other entrepreneurs (and investors). All eligible startups, even at idea stage, with a good pitch deck and branding, will be awarded a free virtual company booth on the event’s online platform.

Short-listed startups will get to pitch and a chance to earn US$4 000 (cash and kind, unrestricted). The winner will receive: US$500 cash prize from 3DExperience Lab, Access to mentoring sessions with the accelerator OceanHub Africa and access to the network, up to US$3 000 of AWS Activate credits.

The WOC works to promote organizations conducting ocean sustainable development startup competitions as part of its “Global Blue Economy Innovation Initiatives Network”. The WOC Network brings together ocean-related accelerators, incubators, challenge competitions and startup hubs involved in ocean sustainable development.

Ocean sustainable development accelerators, incubators, challenge competitions or startup hubs who have not yet been contacted by the WOC are encouraged to email info@oceancouncil.org for information on the Global Blue Innovation Initiatives Network.
