Changes to 2021 Seatrade Cruise Programme

Mary Bond

As we kick off a new year, we can’t help but reflect on what a truly unprecedented time we continue to live in. Over the last three months the Seatrade Cruise team has had many conversations with customers, partners, cruise and port associations, and individual cruise line representatives from around the globe to gauge what we can do to best serve the community’s need as we plan our 2021 programme.

We are very aware from these conversations that cruise lines are hard at work advocating and preparing for the safe and gradual resumption of cruise operations around the world—with many successful sailings that have already occurred in Europe and other markets with protocols working as intended. We also recognise the desire to safely come together at a live event, and the advanced logistical and budgetary planning that would be required of our exhibitors and attendees.
After careful consideration, and consultation with CLIA and the FCCA, and with the understanding that the whole industry will be focusing on the implementation of new protocols and processes in the first half of the year, Seatrade Cruise Global 2021 is postponed, and we are working with our association partners and you, our customers on alternative options for early autumn.

Please be assured that Seatrade Cruise Global will be hosted under the All Secure standards, a detailed protocol of health and safety measures developed collaboratively with industry associations, event organisers and venues, along with input from health, government and local authorities, in order to provide the highest levels of hygiene and safety for our visitors. Virtual attendance options will also be provided should that be a preferred way to access the conference programme.

For clarity, Seatrade Europe will continue as planned in Hamburg on 8-10 September 2021, allowing the members of our community ample opportunity to come together in either location most convenient, or at both events.
“The whole Hamburg Messe team is looking forward to hosting a successful and lively Seatrade Europe in September in Hamburg, and are proud to be able to provide a forum for the European cruise industry as it resumes safe sailing in earnest after the difficult circumstances of 2020,” shares Claudia Johannsen, Business Unit Director, Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH.
Based on customer feedback, we will also be hosting a series of virtual conferences in the first half of 2021, as well as supporting events hosted by our partners.
