Falling BDI, Wets ”breath” again amid MIGRANTS surge, an explosive Middle East and uncertainty over Coronavirus.
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 61 points since yesterday and now stands at 2,795, losing also the 2,800 points threshold… Wets plus points: vital. Spain sends troops to halt 8,000 MIGRANTS pouring in its borders in Ceuta… Israel and the Palestinians opt to continue fighting and seems we will witness a peripheral explosion. Narrow-minded politicians from both sides need to be ousted. Coronavirus uncertainty rules the day. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:
The Capes’ BCI was down 153 points since yesterday and now reads 3,790 – losing also the 3,800 and 3,900 points threshold… Strange but true…
The Panamaxes’ BPI lost 55 points as well as the 2,900 points threshold and now stands at 2,854 points…
Both Supras and Handies continue to rise; the BSI was up 14 points at 2,324 and the BHSI up 11 at 1,289 points respectively…
Wets breath “again”; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 611 – plus one and 533 – plus 11 points respectively… Still a field under ULTRA Caution!
A very strange but expected to develop in this way Dry Market, as some well-placed and thoughtful owners got the opportunity and fixed on period with double rates… Few though expected these current developments and fall – many believed we were heading for something above the 5,000 points… It remains to be seen how the Geopolitical and Health global scene coupled with the worse ever Recession will affect the Markets and the possibility of hostilities in many regions will also contribute to the coming “happenings”; CAUTION!
The WTI fell by US$ 1,01 and now stands at US$ 65.27; we need per mare per terra to see the magic US$ 39.99, end of the story. There is not a single justification for these levels… Anyway, eventually we might witness a sudden turn to ASE’s and then I will tell you…
2020, 2030 and 2050 are going to become a boomerang against those who insist in high oil prices plus the Environmental issues will direct us to ASE’s. As a first step, do go for a newbuilding spree and “power” your new tonnage with cylindrical sails… Convert existing modern tonnage too! Wind power will soon dominate all seven oceans!

The Israeli – Palestinian ongoing fighting might go completely off hand… World leaders MUST intervene and give an end to this bloodbath by both sides… Shame! As said in the preamble, when narrowmindness rules, what do you expect… Expect reprisals in the very near future. Mind Turkey’s behavior, as Turkish aspirations loom in the background even in this Israeli – Palestinian conflict… Religion is an important factor coupled with imperialism… Benjamin Netanyahu must never forget the Trial and Error principal… Equally Hamas must understand that they cannot win over Israel… but above all they must stop exploiting the Palestinian people… One MUST never ignore UN’s 1948 Resolution for two States… Joe Biden’s administration has a lot to do and he must act swiftly…
All in all never forget that 2021 is the Year of the Great Reset, as we have advised you last December and we adhere to this view; already what’s happening is one hundred centum within our prognosis! One major issue is the bad finances which have led to this despicable Recession… Wait to see what is coming…
The Coronavirus Anathema continues and we are still in early days given the daily announcements from the Medical World. One thing is for sure: we must face the reality and abandon the expectation of making money via say Tourism / Maritime Tourism as we will soon regret all these messy and childish / greedy decisions… Wake up! Ensure you get Vaccinated; many will regret their negative attitude…
