Mr. Veniamis,

I received your letter dated 28/5/2021 in which you invite me for the second time to appear before you and the Board of our Union to apologize “because I have not complied with the instructions”.

Instructions – suggestions that you addressed to me after my first call for an “apology”, again before you at the BoD of the Union during its meeting of 18/5/2021. Of course, I did not attend this meeting, nor I intend to attend the meeting of 1/6/2021, because I am not going to bless with my presence the ongoing assassination attempt of a character that you have undertaken, along with various media of known “credibility”. This is feeling I have extracted so far from various actions and observations.

To my colleagues, at least to all those who are not involved in this farce, I will sincerely apologize if I have caused them any discomfort and indignation, as they deserve from a colleague who unwittingly, with his garrulous speech, (which was brutally abused by outcast “journalists”) harassing and insulting them – as I did for the Prime Minister and the Minister of Merchant Marine.

But I will not apologize to no-one who, on the occasion of this pitiful journalism, considered it appropriate to use same in order to settle personal scores.

As for the essence of your accusations, I would like to inform you that there are many others, more suitable to judge both my patriotism and my love for the Motherland, issues that I warmly ask you in all earnesty not to deal with same further.

As to whether I respect the institutions and if I love Greece and our Shipping, please let others judge same and I refer you to the dozens of occasions when I have explictly stated my position in favour of the importance of Greek Shipping.

In short, concluding, Mr Veniamis, I refuse to continue to serve our Union under your Presidency and current circumstances.

That is why you should consider this very letter of mine as a statement of resignation both from the BoD, in which you are also the chairman, and the Union of Greek Shipowners and place same on record in the minutes of the UGS.

Κύριε Βενιάμη,

Έλαβα την από 28/5/2021 επιστολή σου με την οποία με καλείς για δεύτερη φορά να παρουσιαστώ ενώπιών σου στο Δ.Σ. της Ένωσής μας και να απολογηθώ «διότι δεν συνεμορφώθην προς τας υποδείξεις».

Υποδείξεις που μου απεύθυνες μετά την πρώτη κλήση μου σε «απολογία», πάλι ενώπιών σου στο Προεδρείο της Ένωσης στη συνεδρίασή του, της 18/5/2021. Φυσικά δεν παρέστην στη συνεδρίαση αυτή, ούτε και σκοπεύω να παρευρεθώ στη συνεδρίαση της 1/6/2021, γιατί δεν πρόκειται με την παρουσία μου να ευλογήσω την από εσένα συνεχιζόμενη προσπάθεια δολοφονίας χαρακτήρα που έχεις αναλάβει, μαζί με διάφορα media εγνωσμένης «αξιοπιστίας». Αυτή την αίσθηση έχω αποκομίσει μέχρι σήμερα από διάφορες ενέργειες που παρατηρώ.

Στους μεν συναδέλφους μου, τουλάχιστον σε όλους εκείνους που δεν συμμετέχουν σε αυτή τη φαρσοκωμωδία, θα απολογηθώ με ειλικρινή τρόπο εάν τους προκάλεσα την οποιαδήποτε δυσφορία και αγανάκτηση, όπως τους αρμόζει από έναν συνάδελφο που άθελά του, με τον αθυρόστομο λόγο του, (που όμως βάναυσα κακοποιήθηκε από «δημοσιογράφους» ευρισκόμενους εκτός νομιμότητος) τους στενοχώρησε και τους προσέβαλε – όπως άλλωστε έκανα και στον Κύριο Πρωθυπουργό και στον Κύριο Υπουργό Εμπορικής Ναυτιλίας.

Δεν θα απολογηθώ όμως σε κανέναν, που με αφορμή αυτή την ελεεινή δημοσιογραφία, θεώρησε σκόπιμο να την χρησιμοποιήσει για ξεκαθάρισμα προσωπικών λογαριασμών.

Όσο για την ουσία των κατηγοριών σου, θα ήθελα να σε πληροφορήσω ότι υπάρχουν πολλοί άλλοι, πλέον κατάλληλοι, να κρίνουν και τον πατριωτισμό μου και την αγάπη μου για την πατρίδα, ζητήματα που θα σε παρακαλέσω θερμά να μην ασχοληθείς περεταίρω.

Για το εάν σέβομαι τους θεσμούς και εάν αγαπώ την Ελλάδα και την Ναυτιλία μας, σε παρακαλώ άφησε να το κρίνουν άλλοι και σε παραπέμπω στις δεκάδες φορές που έχω ξεκάθαρα δηλώσει τις θέσεις μου υπέρ της σημασίας της Ελληνικής Ναυτιλίας.

Κοντολογίς και εν κατακλείδι, Κύριε Βενιάμη, αρνούμαι να συνεχίσω να υπηρετώ την Ένωσή μας υπό την δική σου Προεδρία και υπό αυτές τις συνθήκες.

Για αυτό να θεωρήσεις αυτή την επιστολή μου ως δήλωση παραίτησης και από το Συμβούλιο του οποίου προΐστασαι και από την Ένωση και να την καταχωρήσεις στα πρακτικά.
