The BDI@1,711; pinch me… Geopolitical and Covid mess continues

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained 208 points since yesterday, thanks to all Dry Indices surge. Ukraine a hidden mess and will be uncontrollable like Covid if a long term solution isn’t agreed. John Faraclas midweek recap:

The Capes’ BCI was up 301 points and now stands at 1,503…

The Panamaxes’ BPI gained 282 points and now reads 2,153…

Rich peakings for both the Supras and Handies; the BSI was up 177 and the BHSI 57 at 1,911 and 1,086 respectively. Alleluia!

Wets …”complimented” the surge and behaved …well with the BDTI (Dirties) up one and the BCTI (Cleans) two points at 682 and 594 respectively.

The WTI as these lines are written was up 61 cents since yesterday at US$89.97. Still unacceptable levels. Only US$ 40 can save the day.

On the Geopolitical front Germany must decide where it belongs as well as whom favours despite their despicable and inhumane not to mention illegal attitude. I am referring of course to Ukraine, the Nordstream2 and the anomaly in continuing flirting with Turkey. It’s about time for German leaders and officials as well as to the top echelon of the German military to decide… we had enough.-

Putin will continue to escalate tension… Indeed he has to defend his nation, but Geopolitics have changed. One MUST not forget that the border between Europe and Asia are the Ural Mountains… Watch this space!

At the other side of the Atlantic, in reality, the US president keep his cards close to his chest vis-a-vis Putin’s actions…

The Chinese as usual, despite the support of the West via globalisation – manufacturing of most goods and for us Shipbuilding and Shiprepair, remain the same.

Boris Johnson’s cabinet reshuffle as well as that of 10 Downing Street might keep him in power for better das in the UK and beond…

Covid continues to pester our society. Time to tackle same but we need disciplined citizens and responsible politician. Above all we want real leaders.

Greece’s Ambassador at the Court of St. James Ioannis Raptakis among students

A big day for all today as we celebrate the International Day of the Greek Language, the most powerful of all! Events took place in all major Greek Diaspora centres with a memorable one at the Greek Ambassador’s residence in London on the 3rd of February; well done, given the fact that the high school students delivered a paper on  the “Greek Language through dialogue”. Present were also students from the Greek Primary school of London.

Let me remind you that “English is a Hellenic Dialect”. Order Prof. Stavros Theofanides’ book, second edition SBN: 960-630-019-6

Have a nice evening as well continue to remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean.  Once again a big THANK YOU to all who really care for all humans – Doctors, Nurses, Seafarers, Dockers, Port Authorities et al during this Coronavirus disaster!! We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too. Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let us work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is in red over US$ 350 (three hundredandfifty) trillion…
