The BDI@2,148; a mini surge..? Wets on the …up whilst hype governs Geopolitics …assisted by the Covid anathema
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) surpassed the 2,100 points threshold and now stands at 2,148 – up 103. Wets “moved” up slightly but anything plus is more than welcomed as we all await the 1,000 points for both Dirties and Cleans. The hype in Geopolitics goes beyond the theatre of the absurd particularly with Ukraine and the behaviour of all players… err actors… Covid though is round the corner… John Faraclas brief daily recap:
Good news for the Capes as the BCI ended up above the 2,000 points threshold and smiles fly around; at 2,015 – plus 166 feels safe!
Good run by the Panamaxes’ BPI now at 2,596 – up 155, over and above the 2,500 points threshold…
With 17 plus points the Supras’ BSI remains fully buoyant and now stands at 2,359 points – lately a good comparison-wise earner..
Handies’s BHSI was also up 27 points at 1,333.
Let us hope this dry mini surge will continue; all indices are now safe and conversely owners.
The Wets were buoyant too though with single digit plus figures; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 715 and 704 – up nine and four points respectively… We eagerly await the 1,000 points for both categories and that will be it, but…
The WTI was up 32 cents since yesterday and now reads US$ 91.91. C A U T I O N…
In the Geopolitical arena, and as you read in the preamble, we are watching the theatre of the absurd given the evolving fiasco in Ukraine. A real fiasco and let’s see how the architects of this despicable and premediate situ will short it out as Peace all over Planet Ocean is at stake. Everything is possible and we wouldn’t be surprised to see a major conflagration. You see, there was already a big issue during divorcing time at the end of the Soviet Union era beween Russia and Ukraine – who gets what… remember… Then come Crimea… then the “autonomous” regions and now…. hold your breath…
The Energy issues continue to create unstable situations and inflation amid Planet Ocean worse ever Recession which coupled with the continuation of Covid-19 and its mutations will lead to asymmetrical results harming everybody.
Countries to watch in this conflict are China and Turkey – playing in all fronts, particularly Turkey… trying to destabilise the entire region, a 1,500 miles radius around its borders.
Wonder where the EU is hiding. I hope the Mighty Continent in the aftermath of this fiasco will get its act together, otherwise same will be disolved…

We are at War, a multi-level Ground, Sea and Air War not to mention Money/Banking War as well as Cyber warfare.
Covid-19 and its mutations remain strong and need to see medical and science people taking over from the failed politicians…
