Danae Bezantakou, CEO, Navigator Shipping Consultants, Governor and Secretary at the International propeller Club Port of Piraeus, founder of YES Forum and iforU

I am proud to be the daughter of a captain that holds a history of over 50 years in the shipping industry, Captain Dimitris Bezantakos and of a very active woman among three other sisters. Although 30 years ago, we are all aware that shipping was a men’s world, I am proud to say that my family was women-dominated. Moreover, being myself in shipping the last 20 years, I have to confess how encouraging is that we are on another page today. Women have gain their position, are respected executives of Shipping companies, Presidents and Members of BOD of many Global Organisations and run their own Companies.

You may think that every year this day, we are all say the same things. What I would personally like to underline this year is that we as women hold this position are “obliged” to influence, empower and give the chance to many other women to gain their position in this wonderful world. Looking back this year, I am glad that though YES FORUM, I have the opportunity to help many young ladies and men to become part of the shipping sector, to welcome along with President of the UGS, Mrs. Melina Travlou 600 young people in the day of youth at Posidonia, that through International Propeller Club, Ports of Piraeus, I had the chance to welcome U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Laura M. Dickey at the Amver Awards 2022 and through iforU Greek Mentoring Network to help many small and medium entrepreneurs to enlarge their businesses.
