The International Tank Container Organisation was started in 1998 and I was one of the Founder Members. Jeremy Bergbaum was our first President – and when he stood down in 2003, I was elected to be the President, upon my retirement from Stolt.
In 2009, I resigned as the President of ITCO – as the Board at that time were unwilling to expand the Organisation into the Asia-Pacific Market and include Companies from Asia. This was mainly because of their concerns about creating more competition.
In 2010, Graham Wood and I started the Asia Tank Container Organisation (@TCO), to help develop and expand the rapidly expanding Asia tank container market, which today is the fastest growing region – with more than 90% of the World’s tank containers being manufactured in China, and many of the Asian tank operators expanding regionally and globally.
In 2016, I was invited back as President of ITCO.
Then, in 2017, I combined ITCO an @TCO into a single tank container organisation – as it should have been from Day One.
Today, ITCO remains the only the Organisation representing the Worldwide tank container industry with almost 200 Members and continuing to grow fast.
I am proud of what we have achieved in my time at ITCO. But now is the time to pass the baton on to a new President, who will take the Organisation to the next stage in its development.
At this morning’s Board Meeting, I advised the ITCO Board that I will retire as ITCO President at the end of this year – and I will help the Board in the selection of a new President, who will take over as from 1 January 2024.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Members and the many friends I have made in my time at ITCO for their support and encouragement.
Without this, none of what we have achieved would have been possible.
But mostly I would like to acknowledge the support I have received from Patrick and Kate – the ITCO Team – who are the real champions of the success of ITCO and will remain so, for many years to come.
Reginald Lee
President, ITCO
