“Bankers vs. Shipowners”
Another victory – shipowners win narrowly 6-4 against the bankers!
Once again, the representatives of the shipping industry were able to maintain the upper hand. The shipowners narrowly emerged victorious in the traditional soccer derby of the Hamburg maritime industry against the bankers, with a final score of 6-4 (2-2), securing their fourth consecutive win. Approximately 100 spectators witnessed an exciting and contested game last Wednesday at Lokstedter Steindamm, the soccer field of Eimsbütteler TV, under perfect weather conditions.

The game remained very interesting and balanced throughout, ultimately resulting in a narrow 6-4 victory for the shipowners. The bankers displayed courage and kept the game evenly matched for a significant duration. Credit is also due to goalkeeper Michael de Visser for his outstanding performance, earning him the title of Player of the Match. In the end, it was the small details that made the difference in favor of the shipowners.
Katharina Ziegler had reason to rejoice as well: her vocal support during the match earned her free tickets to an FC St. Pauli / HSV game. Moreover, the event provided visitors with more than just exciting soccer and enjoyment—it also offered the opportunity to donate to a good cause. A total of 650 euros was collected for the youth department of Eimsbütteler TV. Frank Fechner, President of “ETV,” personally expressed gratitude to all generous donors present. The funds will now be invested in the youth soccer department of the club. Lars Schmiederhausen was delighted to receive a bottle of Gin Sul, made from Portuguese juniper berries by Altonaer-Spirituosen-Manufaktur, donated by the Portugal Flag.
We extend our congratulations to the shipowners on their victory and commend the bankers for their courageous performance.
We hope that we can keep this nice tradition and that we will all see each other again next year – then for the 50th anniversary!
