The UN has adopted the first-ever international treaty to govern the high seas and protect remote ecosystems vital to humanity, after more than 15 years of discussions. The pact will establish a legal framework to extend environmental protections to international waters which cover more than 60 percent of the earth. HSH Prince Albert has been a strong proponent and the treaty’s adoption coincided with celebrations of Monaco joining the UN as a full member in 1993.

As anger still seethes following the raising of the French retirement age to 64 from 62, an opinion poll conducted for BFMTV found that the strongest opposition to President Macron is coalescing around Marine Le Pen’s rightist party, the RN, while the leftist Nupes coalition is in a much weaker position, with 36 and 24 percent support respectively.

A violent explosion that caused the collapse of a building in the Fifth District of Paris – the Latin quarter -,caused 33 serious Injuries including 4 people in a grave condition.
