Recognised by the global shipping industry as an integral part of their community, the Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics, as the Blue MBA is formally known, draws together candidates of senior standing from many professional backgrounds and nationalities.

Since 2001, the Blue MBA, which has accreditations from top educational bodies, has graduated over 350 students from more than 50 countries.

At the Graduation Ceremony of the recent cohort on 05 August HE Dr. Nata Menabde, Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Denmark and Iceland, gave a very insightful and inspiring speech on the importance of the shipping and shipping related industries. She said:

“Indeed, the shipping industry plays a crucial role in our daily lives and the global economy. Its significance can be seen in various aspects that affect our well-being, trade, and the interconnectedness of the nations. In the modern times, the shipping industry attains a vital importance – it is a backbone of international trade; an instrument in transporting food products across continents; a supplier of the world’s energy resources; a major provider of jobs for millions of people worldwide; an important booster for economic growth; supporter of humanitarian aid; the most environmentally friendly mode of transportation. Alongside to fostering connectivity, it promotes cultural exchange, broadens boundaries and mutual understanding by facilitating movement of people and ideas across borders.”

She also highlighted the impact of the current war and the geopolitical situation on the shipping industry, adding:

“The vital importance of shipping is often vividly demonstrated in times of crises. Today, we are living in the most unprecedented times of the modern history, facing the still ongoing brutal war in Ukraine, waged by Russia in February last year. Alongside with its severe security, humanitarian, economic and related multi-faceted implications, we have to mention the blocking of the Ukrainian Black Sea Odesa port which has created life-threatening consequences and far-reaching impacts on the global food delivery, particularly in the developing countries. The ongoing war in Ukraine has shifted already-established shipping routes, and revealed the significance of diversification. We can name one example – Trans-Caspian International Transport Route – the Middle Corridor, which is getting increased importance as an alternative route to the Russian Northern corridor, and once again, illustrates how the external obstacles can affect the entire shipping industry.”

She draws on her vast global work experience and the importance of partnerships, collaboration and openness, adding:

“As the Ambassador of Georgia to Denmark, I am keenly aware of the significance of strong partnerships and open dialogue between nations, and I encourage you to foster these relationships as you embark on your professional journey. As graduates of the Copenhagen Business School, you are part of a global network of talented individuals who share a common purpose – to make a positive difference in the world. Collaboration and knowledge exchange are powerful tools that can drive progress and foster innovation. Engage with your peers, including the ones from Georgia, and embrace diversity in all its forms, for it is through unity that we can achieve greatness.”

Thank you once again Ambassador for joining us in celebrating this milestone with our Blue MBA Graduates and for your very inspiring words.
