What does ‘transparency’ mean for your business? Find out at the Transparency in Shipping and Bunkering Forum at LISW 2023

ESG reporting, sanctions compliance, new and upcoming environmental regulations at IMO level and in the European arena, and the imperative of shipping’s decarbonisation have rewritten the definition of transparency for the shipping and bunker industries.

Register for the Transparency in Shipping and Bunkering Forum on 11 September at LISW 2023 to hear top maritime experts explain what transparency is – and how it can best be achieved – across the commercial, operational and technical activities of industry stakeholders in today’s increasingly complex and challenging market.

The Forum, held at the offices of Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, will be the occasion for the launch of an ESG index specifically for shipping which is the result of three years’ independent academic research by two leading universities, the University of Plymouth and the Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The index uses a robust technology which was developed with the collaboration of leading shipping ESG experts, and it will be able to harmonise the ESG reporting mechanisms for shipping and achieve an easy comparison and transparency.

Panellists will also discuss policies relating to sustainable shipping and consider how ESG is changing shipping practices.

Speakers in the Shipping Session are:

Andrew Stephens, Executive Director, Sustainable Shipping Initiative; Bev Mackenzie, Head of Intergovernmental Engagement, BIMCO; Roel Hoenders, Head of the Air Pollution and Energy Efficiency Section of the Marine Environment Division, IMO; Gina Panayiotou, ESG Manager, West of England P&I Club; Andrew Ridgen Green, Partner, Stephenson Harwood; Anne Katrine Bjerregaard, Head of Strategy & Sustainability, Zero Carbon Shipping; Paul Taylor, Global Head of Maritime Industries, Societe Generale and Vice Chair, Poseidon Principles; Dr Stavros Karamperidis, Plymouth University and Dr Michael Tsatsaronis, Assistant Professor of Quantitative Methods in Shipping, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The second session of the event will focus on transparency in bunkering. This will look at ESG reporting as it applies to marine fuel companies and a panel of industry experts will also consider if bunkering’s often rather opaque commercial and operational practices are really changing, particularly in the context of compliance with environmental and national regulations and an increasingly complex sanctions framework.

Speakers in the Bunkering Session are:

Ruta Samant, Head of Strategy and Development, Ratings, Infospectrum; Paul Millar, Credit Manager, Hartree Marine; Steve Bee, Group Commercial & Business Development Director, VPS; Daniel Rose, CEO, Shipergy; Tyler Baron, CEO, Minerva Bunkering; and Philip Roche, Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright LLP.

After the Forum, participants are invited to join a networking reception with drinks and canapés on the rooftop terrace at Norton Rose Fulbright with a spectacular view of the River Thames and the London skyline.

Be clear on what transparency means for shipping and bunkering – sign up for the Forum today for just £75.
