On a lovely scenery – clear skies, coupled though with strong winds, the HESGB’s members, friends and guests gathered at the All Bar One on Shad Thames, at the South Bank of Father Thames, just off the magnificent Tower Bridge for their early spring informal drinks and dips .

Over 60 faithful made it as it was an early one -17:30 BST AND a Monday(15 April), so the turnout was more than a success! This was the first post the Annual Dinner and Dance of the 24th of February event at the Grosvenor House and as you can imagine, there was a lot to be discussed; the two wars at the doorstep of Europe, the Red Sea mess with the Houthi and the arrest by Iran of a cargo ship in the Persian Gulf with about 25 crew members onboard, the state of the Shipping Markets being affected – positively and negatively, the coming up Posidonia 2024 and many other issues.

Smiling faces; the deputy treasurer Kostas Amarantidis (to the extreme left) and the vice president Giorgos Foustanos(to the extreme right) with young members and friends

Excellent drinks and dips – the dips were one of the very best and in good temperature. Nearly all sectors of the Shipping industry from and beyond the Square Mile were present enjoying this early evening event – as a testimony, see the pics, all in jovial mood. Some hiccups with the traffic but all ended well.

The vice president Giorgos Foustanos, going for a second round…

Good to see some youngsters joining the event, eager to learn more about the Shipping Industry and what same offers to them as well as to the global society. Mentoring continues to be a very much needed aspect in our industry; pleased to see Capt Michael Kounoupas and Alex Xenakis being engaged in advising shipping hopefuls Eves Sanders and Menelaos Mochonas!
