INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF GLASS

I was thrilled to have been invited by Blowfish Gallery to exhibit a selection of clear glass Superposition artworks as part of Parallel Exhibit group exhibition for the International Festival of Glass.

I was also invited to take part in panel discussion – Empowering Women in Business – that was hosted by Bethany Wood, Founder of Blowfish Glass UK.

The other panelists included Katherine Huskie (Co-Founder of D&H), Tabitha Sara Burrill and Amelia Burke (Director of E&M Glass). The discussion featured “a diverse group of women glass artists and business owners. A conversation about what it’s like to be a woman in business and how they’ve navigated the industry to lead their businesses. They will share their experiences and guidance with women wanting to start their businesses.”

And I got to host panel discussion – Adapting Art for Financial Success – with panelists Opal Seabrook (Starburst Glass UK), Joanna Manousis and Derek Hunt

“This insightful event delves into the strategies and mindset shifts necessary to transform your glass art practice into a thriving venture. Learn from these established artists as they share their experience with navigating the art market, and adapting your artistic approach for financial success. Whether you’re a budding or established glass artist, this event will share valuable insights into what it can take to monetise your craft.”

BALANCE & HARMONY

Balance & Harmony was a joint exhibition with The Scottish Glass Society and the Contemporary Glass Society. This joint exhibition was held at the Trades Hall, Glasgow, in the Merchant City area coinciding with the Glasgow ‘Doors Open’ week.

“Balance & Harmony is a compelling and profound theme, evoking a sense of equilibrium, serenity, and interconnectedness.

Artworks inspired by Balance & Harmony will range from serene and contemplative pieces that embody a visual sense of tranquillity, to compositions that ingeniously juxtapose disparate elements to create a cohesive and balanced whole.  From the use of complementary colours and textures to the incorporation of symbolic imagery representing harmony and equilibrium, the artistic exploration within this theme is vast.

The aim of the Balance & Harmony exhibition is to demonstrate the wonderful and amazing contemporary glass that makers of CGS and SGS create and to let the public appreciate and enjoy its magical colours, textures, use of light and variety of techniques.  It is also an opportunity for the public to not only discover their own local glass artists but to encounter work from other SGS and CGS members. The work displayed will feature as wide a range of techniques as possible.”

GEOMETRY AT MADE LONDON

I am delighted to share that GEOMETRY, the first exhibition I have curated under the Design Nation umbrella, is launching at MADE London!

The aim of this type of exhibition is to highlight each individual material (in this instance glass, wood, textiles and ceramics) and explore the conversation each material has with one another under a specific theme.

I am delighted to be sharing this exciting venture with three extremely talented women – Hannah Lane (wood & paper), Pamela Print (Textiles) and Anna Thomson (Ceramics & Lighting)!
