As the European Central Bank marks the second year of the digital euro’s ‘preparation phase’ and central banks in the region undertake wholesale central bank digital currency trials, OMFIF’s Digital Monetary Institute’s Future of payments forum in Frankfurt will bring together key stakeholders to explore the state of play of projects and the remaining challenges around upgrading payments infrastructure.
The forum will convene central bankers, regulators, government officials, commercial banks and technology providers to shape the dialogue around the future of money and payments in Europe. Topics include the role of the public and private sector in retail payments, technical aspects of the digital euro, holding limits and offline payments, the political backdrop and its impact on legislation, tokenisation and the potential benefits for financial markets and improving cross-border payments.
