The shipping industry, like many others, is rapidly embracing artificial intelligence (AI) as a transformative tool. But how should we understand its role, and how can we ensure it enhances both professional outcomes and personal growth? Imagine AI as a personal assistant, one capable of analyzing vast amounts of data at lightning speed and retrieving information with unparalleled precision. However, much like a human assistant, its utility depends on how effectively we communicate our needs and leverage its capabilities.

AI excels in handling tasks that involve extensive data analysis, providing insights that would take humans hours—or even days—to compile. Yet, it remains just that: an assistant. The final responsibility for conclusions, actions, and decisions rests firmly with the human user. To make AI’s output meaningful, users must provide clear, accurate, and well-defined instructions.
