Football Classic: Shipowners Beat Bankers 4:3 in a thrilling match
Dear friends and colleagues,
What a night! On Wednesday evening, the long-standing football tradition between bankers and shipowners returned for its 51st edition at Hamburg’s ETV – and delivered nothing short of a sporting spectacle.

In front of around 200 spectators, the two teams battled it out in a thrilling, high-energy match. Led by a standout performance from Celine Witt (Berenberg Bank) – who scored three goals and was named MVP for the second year in a row – the Bankers came close to securing their first win since 2008. But the Shipowners fought back, scoring the decisive 4:3 goal in the dying seconds of the game.

Off the pitch, the event was equally memorable: referee Marc Richter (HCOB) ensured fair play, young fans from ETV’s U15 team were honored, and the evening wrapped up in the best of spirits over a friendly buffet.

As in previous years, the Portuguese flag flew high over the pitch – symbolizing the strong maritime ties for the flag. EUROMAR is proud to help carry this unique tradition forward, bringing the community together through sport and shared values.
We are already looking forward to the 52nd edition next year!
