Death of Diplomacy – part 5

Thank you all for your comments on our last and today we will try to draw some interesting parallels to open your appetite / interest so we all try and create peace on Planet Ocean…

Shipbroking and in particular Ship Sale & Purchase is at the end of the day very much like Diplomacy, particularly in sorting out any dispute between two parties – or two or more nations.

In Ship Sale & Purchase, buyer and seller have to perform the Agreement, the MOA, which has been drawn up / construed after both parties have signed. The Broker (s) involved safeguards the agreement as sometimes if you leave buyers and sellers on their own, most probably, they will almost destroy the deal…

There are mainly two ways / methods to sell / buy a ship; Outright basis and Subject basis (some people especially those not emanating from the shipowning/shipping fraternity cannot understand the difference and until you, the shipbroker explain, they spend too much valuable time affecting all sides involved. All exchanges until the finalisation of the transaction / deal are in writing by any means available given the period in which we live. Not to forget, and it goes without saying, that we also have an expression “subject only to minor terms / details” which do not affect the main agreement and terms, not event an iota!

Of course there have been some “interesting” disputes between Buyers and Sellers given the interpretations advised by third / fourth parties, lawyers in particular. Sometimes parties opt for childish methods in wanting to leave the deal with whatever this means / entails for all sides involved. Have had a few cases, one in 100,000 which involved even imperialism and nationalism, stubbornness and whatever else your imagination can think of…

Imagine the shipbroking field “going” to war… as nations do today. Obviously those trying to broker Peace for today’s warring factions are cynically in it for the laughter, you dead well know those I mean…

In the current, ongoing disputes with warring factions – such as in Ukraine, the Middle East and Cyprus – a member state of the UN and EU, India and Pakistan, China and Taiwan, Greece and Turkiye, former Yugoslavia, to mention but a few, it is not only the law of the most powerful nation, but that of others, superpowers exercising vested interests… Try also to interpret Outright basis and Subject basis between nations or even union of nations or military / defence organisations / pacts and see what you (will) get…

The slaughter that takes place as these lines are written, in Ukraine, Middle East – Gaza, Syria, Sudan, and elsewgere must end as this situ, one day will bring people concerned down to their knees. So we expect them to come down to their senses as there is no excuse any more. What we hear is beyond a child’s attitude/behaviour. There is one Greek word in use for these people: morons, end of story.-

In view of the existence of nuclear weapons in many countries, it is advised to make an end to the nonsense, and also society must curb all the business hooligans – a term that I have used in the past for many years in my daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports. These business hooligans who operate in the major and most powerful nations today must stop their despicable behaviour…

I can offer my good offices in sorting out such disputes, particularly the Ukrainian and Middle East ones. As a ship Sale and Purchase broker I do know only too well of the sufferings, hence I know how to end them. I can assure you that one day, the punishment of those who went beyond the limit – no excuse for their reasons, they will be humiliated to the worst extent. as well as their accomplices.

We have warned for years about what you witness now in Ukraine, Middle East including Eastern and Central Mediterranean… not just here in www.allaboutshipping.co.uk but on radio, TV stations and universities whenever we speak or deliver speeches, not to mention for the events and conference we attend and all this is on record.

Look forward to your comments.

P.S. Did I hear you say fiasco in Istanbul…
