Further to our last…
Wave after wave of drones descends on Kyiv, not for the first time. And in effect the assault is “waved through” by the so-called international community. The same diplomacy-less catastrophe reigns throughout the Middle East. In the case of Ukraine, the ambiguity of US President Trump, who was going to end the war “within 24 hours” is mediated, if one dares use such a word, by threats on arms supplies to the victim state and by so-far empty warnings of sanctions against Moscow. A headline over a recent article in The Times of London reads: “After talking to Trump, why Putin think he’s winning.” Meanwhile, the Baltic states tremble and do their best to beef up their military and their hopes for aid from Nato should Russia attempt a land-grab or other provocation. Did we in these few lines mention diplomacy? Only in passing, because that is the forgotten word.
P.S. Who can “negotiate” with the Houthis… on a full moon…
