As CORE POWER’s New Nuclear for Maritime Summit in Washington, D.C. rapidly approaches, senior voices across industry, government and academia continue to be announced.

We’re pleased to confirm that Matt Napoli, Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), will join the summit this February.

Napoli brings senior U.S. government experience in nuclear policy and international coordination, overseeing nonproliferation programmes and working closely with global partners on governance frameworks supporting the civil use of nuclear energy.

Previously, serving as Executive Director of Foreign and Public Affairs for the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, Napoli led engagement with allied governments, and earlier in his career worked as a U.S. Navy officer and engineer on naval nuclear propulsion programmes.

At the summit, Napoli will provide his perspective on the policy, governance and international context shaping nuclear energy for maritime applications, during his keynote presentation at 10:55am.

Following on from the morning sessions around building U.S. leadership in maritime nuclear, in the afternoon, authors from Returning from Ebb Tide: Renewing the United States Commercial Maritime Enterprise, will explore how advanced nuclear technologies could support the future competitiveness of U.S. commercial shipping.

Sanjana Shashikumar will be joined by Admiral James G. Foggo (ret.) MSCJohn A Konrad V and Dr. Steven Wills to discuss the chapter Savannah’s Legacy: Advancing U.S. Commercial Shipping with Small Nuclear Reactors, examining how small modular reactors could play a role in strengthening the U.S. maritime sector.

With just under a month to go, the event is almost sold out. Get your ticket today!
