The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) Offshore Site Investigation and Geotechnics (OSIG) Special Interest Group will host its flagship forum for the global subsurface community, the 10th International OSIG Conference, on 14-16 September 2027 at Central Hall, Westminster, London. The Call for Abstracts has now been extended to 26 June 2026. Held every five years, the 9th conference in the series, also held in London in 2023, attracted over 250 conference papers and 10 Keynote Addresses, from over 30 countries and 50 universities represented globally.
With its theme ‘Geophysics, Geoscience and Geotechnics for Energy and Resource Resilience’ OSIG 2027 brings together the global community drawn from industry and academia across offshore site investigation, geotechnics, geophysics, and geoscience to share innovation, research, and operational experience supporting offshore energy development, all are invited to submit abstracts at https://sut.org/osig-2027/osig2027-conference-themes/
There are seven offshore energy themes under which to submit abstracts:
• New and novel developments in data handling, geoscience and AI• Improving understanding of seabed and sub-seabed mapping, marine geohazards and their implications• Data integration and ground modelling for bridging geology, geophysics and geotechnics• Advances in geotechnical GI, in-situ / laboratory testing and parameter derivation• Key developments in physical and numerical modelling• Advancing design and installation for future energy challenges• Addressing shallow infrastructure engineering challenges and solutions
As Toby Powell, returning Chair of the OSIG 2027 Organising Committee, explains: “Abstracts are reviewed for technical substance, originality, and relevance to one of the seven conference themes. Case studies and operational learnings are strongly encouraged, particularly where they demonstrate clear value to offshore site investigation, geotechnics, geophysics, and geoscience.“Once submitted, abstracts are reviewed by the organising committee and successful authors are invited to develop their work into a conference paper. Papers then undergo anonymous peer review, with feedback provided before final acceptance for the OSIG 2027 proceedings. All accepted papers (a maximum of 8-pages) will be published in peer-reviewed proceedings with ISBN, DOI, and Scopus indexing (Elsevier).”
Sponsorship opportunities abound
A wide range of sponsorship opportunities including exhibition opportunities, delegate engagement, and branding across conference materials and digital platforms is available at https://sut.org/osig-2027/sponsorship/. Sponsorship enables operators and suppliers to engage with OSIG 2027’s global audience of offshore site investigation, geotechnics, geophysics, and geoscience professionals.
