The 4th combined event celebrating Women in Maritime Day was successfully held at the historic Trinity House, bringing together professionals from across the shipping and maritime industry for an evening dedicated to meaningful dialogue, shared experiences, and valuable networking opportunities.

Organised within the framework of WISTA’s ongoing initiatives supporting and promoting the role of women in shipping, the event once again highlighted the importance of diversity, inclusion, and collaboration within the maritime sector.

Iain Lower, Deputy Master of Trinity House, addressed the significance of promoting diversity across the industry, while Bill Wall warmly welcomed attendees, setting the tone for an engaging and inspiring evening.
During the event, statistics regarding the current representation of women across various sectors and departments within the maritime industry were presented, alongside insightful personal and professional experiences shared by both speakers and participants.
One of the highlights of the evening was the panel discussion featuring distinguished speakers including Jude Terry CB OBE of the Royal Navy, Ursula Dockerty of Shell Trading & Shipping Company, and Paul Bristowe of Associated British Ports, expertly moderated by Sue Terpilowski OBE.

The event was characterised by a strong sense of teamwork, positivity, and mutual support, with a remarkable number of women attending from different areas of the maritime community. Participants had the opportunity to connect, exchange views and experiences, discuss the challenges and difficulties women continue to face within the industry, and share ideas on how greater inclusion, cooperation, and professional support can help create more opportunities for the future of women in shipping.
The discussions encouraged open and constructive dialogue around the aspirations, concerns, and evolving role of women within the maritime world, reinforcing the importance of continued collaboration in building a more inclusive industry environment.

Special thanks were extended to the event sponsor, OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum), co-host Trinity House, and to everyone who attended and contributed to such an important and inspiring initiative celebrating women in maritime.
