By Dormary Fotopoulou, Business Development Manager – SAFE DRYCON
The maritime industry continues to evolve under increasing regulatory pressure, heightened vetting expectations, and a growing emphasis on transparency, safety culture, and operational consistency. In this demanding environment, operational excellence is no longer a destination but a continuous process of improvement.
At the same time, the industry is benefiting from a broader shift in professional dynamics, with women increasingly contributing across operational, technical, and commercial roles. Through strong communication skills, adaptability, and a holistic approach to problem-solving, women continue to bring valuable perspectives that strengthen organizations and enhance stakeholder engagement.
Having spent more than two decades in the maritime sector across tanker and dry bulk operations, commercial coordination, and client-facing roles, I have gained first-hand insight into the practical challenges shipping companies face on a daily basis. Today, as Business Development Manager at SAFE DRYCON, my focus is on transforming that experience into practical solutions that support our clients’ performance, compliance, and long-term success.
SAFE DRYCON is an ISO 9001:2015 certified provider of Marine Survey, Audit, and Specialized Consultancy Services, supporting shipowners, managers, operators, and charterers in achieving high standards of safety, operational performance, and compliance with industry frameworks such as RightShip, DryBMS, SIRE, TMSA, and FleetRisk.
Although established only one and a half years ago, SAFE DRYCON has successfully positioned itself within a highly competitive market. Through a consistent focus on quality, responsiveness, and practical delivery, we have developed a strong portfolio of respected shipowning and shipmanagement clients. The trust placed in our services is reflected in long-term relationships and fleet-wide cooperation agreements that continue to drive our growth.
Our philosophy is simple: deliver practical, cost-effective solutions that can be realistically implemented both onboard and ashore. We do not merely identify gaps; we work alongside our clients to support continuous improvement and sustainable operational performance.
Our services cover a broad spectrum of operational needs, including marine surveys and onboard audits, vetting preparation, DryBMS and TMSA consultancy, HSQE support, SMS reviews and gap analysis, VDR analysis, navigational audits, technical support, condition surveys, repair supervision, bunker-related services, crew training, cargo operations support, commercial advisory services, port captaincy assistance, and the preparation of operational manuals and management system documentation.
One of SAFE DRYCON’s key strengths is the combination of deep technical expertise and global reach. Our core team consists of experienced Greek Masters and Chief Engineers based in Greece, supported by a carefully selected international network of trusted representatives across key maritime regions, including Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. This structure allows us to provide localized support while maintaining the same standards, methodologies, and quality principles worldwide.
As a result, we are able to respond quickly and effectively to our clients’ requirements, offering practical support wherever their vessels may trade.
Beyond technical services, we strongly believe that shipping remains a people-driven industry. Trust, reliability, and long-term relationships continue to be the foundation of successful cooperation.
With this philosophy in mind, SAFE DRYCON has launched initiatives aimed at strengthening collaboration and interaction among clients, partners, and industry stakeholders. One recent example was our successful networking reception during Posidonia 2026, which brought together a distinguished group of clients, partners, colleagues, and friends from across the international shipping community. The event provided an excellent platform for exchanging ideas, strengthening professional relationships, and creating new opportunities for future cooperation.
We are also investing in innovation. In collaboration with Solverminds, one of the world’s leading maritime software providers, we have developed a process that enables companies to monitor, analyse, and evaluate operational data across their fleets, supporting informed decision-making and performance improvement.
At the same time, we continue to expand our technical capabilities, particularly in cargo operations, navigation, cargo hold management, and environmental performance. One of our newest offerings is a comprehensive Environmental Audit Program conducted by experienced Chief Engineers, providing vessel operators with valuable insights into environmental compliance, efficiency, and risk mitigation.
At SAFE DRYCON, every assignment is viewed as part of a broader partnership. Our objective is to act as a trusted extension of our clients’ teams, delivering consistency, practical value, and measurable results.
With a strong industry foundation, an expanding global presence, and a commitment to professionalism and continuous improvement, we remain focused on helping our clients navigate today’s challenges while contributing to a safer, more efficient, and more connected maritime industry.
As I firmly believe, “Excellence in shipping is not achieved through isolated actions, but through the holistic combination of consistency, trust, and the ability to transform experience into practical value.”
