Panama City, July 24, 2026 – The Panama Canal has concluded the document submission period for companies interested in participating in the prequalification process for the development of an energy corridor. The submission window closed on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
The submitted documentation will now be evaluated against the legal, technical, and financial criteria outlined in the prequalification documents and their amendments. Once the evaluation is complete, the Panama Canal will publish the list of prequalified companies that will advance to the next phase of the process, which will involve further engagement and dialogue with the selected participants.
The Energy Corridor initiative is designed to position Panama to meet the evolving demands of the global energy market by strengthening the country’s logistics and energy platform.
The proposal envisions developing capabilities that complement the Panama Canal while creating opportunities for companies to participate in strategic projects that contribute to Panama’s economic growth and competitiveness.
Since the Prequalification Documents were issued on January 30, 2026, the process has progressed in accordance with the Panama Canal Authority’s Concessions Regulation.
During this phase, the Panama Canal conducted a clarification period, issued three amendments to the prequalification documents, and received submissions from interested companies. The prequalification process is intended to ensure transparency and fair competition among qualified companies capable of carrying out this strategic initiative.
