Valentin Vacherot has advanced to the second round of the US Open after the Monegasque, seeded 22nd, defeated American Aleksandar Kovacevic 3-6, 7-6, 7-5. Vacherot had to fight back after losing the opening set before completing an impressive victory to continue his run in New York. He will return to action tomorrow against Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak for a place in the third round.
