Thermo King’s direct connection to the vehicle’s high-voltage battery gives Seafood Centre dependable electric refrigeration without additional battery packs, helping maximise payload and charging flexibility.
Brussels, Belgium – October 22, 2026 – Thermo King®, a leader in transport temperature control solutions and a brand of Trane Technologies, is supporting Dutch seafood wholesaler Seafood Centre (Vis en Meer) in its transition to a fully electric refrigerated fleet serving municipal zero-emission zones in the Netherlands. Using Thermo King E-Series E-400-MAX and E-500 MAX units integrated with Stellantis Citroën ë-Jumpy battery-electric vehicles, Seafood Centre is delivering fresh seafood into urban areas while maintaining the strict temperature control required for highly perishable products.
Thermo King’s “one-plug” electric refrigeration technology enables Seafood Centre to carry out direct-zero-emission transport without compromising vehicle payload or range. Powered directly from the electric vehicle’s high-voltage battery via electric power take-off (e-PTO), the E-Series remove the complexity, added weight and packaging constraints associated with separate battery packs. For medium electric vans operating in high-frequency urban distribution, this translates into simpler fleet specification, dependable high-capacity refrigeration, lower vehicle weight to help maximise payload, and the flexibility of both fast charging and on-the-go charging.

A broader commitment to sustainability
The transition to a fully electric delivery fleet marks the latest step in Seafood Centre’s broader sustainability programme. The company’s headquarters is fully insulated, operates without natural gas heating, and is equipped with solar panels to help offset energy consumption.
With Thermo King’s electric E-Series refrigeration technology, Seafood Centre is closing the loop on its sustainable supply chain, ensuring that responsibly sourced seafood is delivered via equally responsible, carbon-neutral logistics.
“At Seafood Centre, sustainability is a core value that shapes how we run our business, from sourcing certified products to doing our part to leave a healthier planet for future generations,” said Joep Besselink owner and founder of Seafood Centre. “Thermo King shares these principles and delivered practical electric technology that supports our operations in zero-emission zones and aligns with our long-term environmental vision. The system’s simple integration with our electric vehiclesand its uncompromising temperature control, made it the right fit for our urban operations. It has delivered real value by giving our drivers ease of use and helping ensure our fresh seafood arrives in excellent condition.”
“Powering the future of transport refrigeration means combining electrification with smart energy management, digital intelligence and climate resilience,” said Martijn Nanning, General Manager Thermo King Netherlands. “By matching the right refrigeration technology to the vehicle platform and application, we deliver practical solutions that are deployable, reliable and protect sensitive cargo across different fleet types, routes and regulatory environments.”
“Our collaboration with Seafood Centre shows how practical innovation helps transporters strengthen their competitive position in a changing delivery environment,” continued Martijn Nanning. “In a sector where freshness, punctuality and regulatory compliance are all business-critical, the right refrigeration technology can help protect product quality, operate reliably and prepare fleets for stricter urban access requirements.”
