It was a bit odd yesterday to witness the figures of all the BDI (Baltic Dry Index) indices. Geopolitics still messy. John Faraclas’ brief market report:
The BDI lost 64 points and now reads 1,708…
The Capes’ BCI lost 159 points re-confirming once again how volatile this size is. At 3,303 points though still makes waves…
The Panamaxes’ BPI lost five points and now stands at 1,583 points…
One point plus for the Supras’ BSI now at 1,034…
Down two points for the Handies’ BHSI now reading 554…
What a “shock” that was! Still CAUTION is our first reaction!
The Wets on a plus mode; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 753 – plus five and 512 plus one points respectively!
The time is ripe for newbuildings, newbuildings of any kind. Only those with new, eco and capable tonnage will go ahead!
The WTI stood at US$ 69.60… CAUTION
The Geopolitical situation coupled with the Trade Wars issue and its to and fro messy negos and threats from both sides – one being the USA the other being the EU, China and Russia might produce a low Dry and wet Markets. Obviously the Container Trade will be affected.
All major issues – Migrants, the Wars in Syria and Iraq as well as in the entire Middle East, Turkey, Greece, the Balkans, The EU, Brexit, the USA internal situation an other issues in the Pacific, Africa and Latin / South America continue…
We are very much concerned about the Wildfires in Greece, particularly in Attica where the death toll is now 83 with many still missing and over 200 injured. It is as we say in shipping, a Both to Blame Collision. The only way out is for all 300 MPs in the Greek Parliament to resign; they don’t have a leg to stand! We will in due course tell you more following our own investigation, but as a fist hint we can assure you that if there are / were illegal houses build then the state shouldn’t had to supply them with electricity, water, gas, telecoms and unjust taxation. Wake up and oust these moron muppet puppet marionettes.
