Markets fall, messy Geopolitics and Coronavirus shakes Planet Ocean
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost a point and now stands at 616; messy and perplexed Geopolitics coupled with chaotic Coronavirus advances brings down Planet Ocean’s economy. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:
The Capes, as volatile as ever, lost 60 points and now the BCI stands at minus 372 points; no one knows what’s next with this size…
The Panamaxes’ BPI was down one point at 1,067…
Supras and Handies survived the fall with the BSI and BHSI now reading 704 – plus 16 and 355 – plus five points respectively. A least it was good to witness the Supras going over and above the 700 points threshold.
The Wets on the up! The last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 778 – plus 14 and 717 – plus 32 points respectively. The Cleans managed to go over and above the 700 points threshold!!!!
The WTI dropped down to US$31.13, down US$ 10.15 since last Friday the 6th of March!!!
The Stock Markets too “developed” major losses and another crash is now ante portas coupled with the Coronavirus effect!!! Italy in tatters with the decision of its PM Konte in extending quarantine measures all over the country… In our humble view we are heading for a pandemic! Planet Ocean is in real danger as the spreading of this deadly unknown situ takes its toll… CAUTION; stay at home to ensure you don’ get infected. But what about the ships??? And what about all these cancellations of Conferences and Events, eh!!!
In the Geopolitical spectrum things are getting sour particularly with the MIGRANTS, the thorny issue for the entire Europe following Turkey’s blackmail tactics… CAUTION! CAUTION as Greece will defend its pride to the very end! Turkey stirs-up the entire Central Med to deep inside the entire Middle East and the Balkans. Politicians, mainly in Europe have to choose between maintaining Peace and Business but they forget how Nemesis can strike. Same applies for NATO. Putin’s Russia continues with its own agenda…
