Capes and Panamaxes lift the BDI, Explosive Geopolitics amid spreading Coronavirus
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained 78 points since yesterday and now stands at 1,463. Beirut port explosion brings closer the conflagration in the region. Discipline is the only way to save the day from the Coronavirus anathema. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:
A triple digit plus for the Capes’ BCI now at 2,494 – up 197 points…
62 points pleas for the Panamaxes BPI now at 1,316…
As per yesterday’s brief, both Supras and Handies fell. The BSI was down 11 ppoins standing at 851 and the BHSI down two reading 470 points respectively!!!
The Wets as we have lately observed: losing steam! The last published BDTI and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 506 – no change and 353 – minus three points respectively
Wonder how valuations work these days given the volatility of all the Markets, both Dry and Wet…
The WTI was up 72 cents since yesterday (US$ 40.76) and now reads US$ 41.48… C A  U T I O N !!!!
In the Geopolitical front, today’s despicable explosions in Beirut will bring back more tragic events and will definitely lead to a nightmare. Let us see who will take responsibility. On the other hand wonder how ISPS works as well as safety and security in all ports all over Planet Ocean. The substances were lethal and why were 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored unsafely!!! It is about time to find out and let those culprits get the most inhumane punishment. Scores of dead people, thousands injured. Poor Beirut – I was lucky back in 1972 to avoid a terrorist attack in Beirut airport thanks for the swift response of the authorities. Since then Beirut, the Paris of the Orient / Levant become a bloodbath for thousands… Time to end all this inhumane behavior…
Elsewhere we had once again the MIGRANTS creating further mess in the MED and Europe..

Coronavirus’ Achilles heel is Discipline to all intents and purposes! At this moment we count nearly 18 (eighteen) million of confirmed cases in 188 countries and just going over the 700,000 (sevenhundredthousand) fatalities…
In Air Travel we must make it clear in all Airports, Terminals and in all aircraft that rules MUST be performed 100 and not 60 percent… SHAME!!! Did I hear you say keeping distances? Wake up and respect yourselves or the Army and Security forces will have to take over!!!!
The Cruise Industry is also suffering with the latest being a Norwegian cruise-ship having just over 40 cases…Â The Damocles Sword question is: Shall I take a cruise? Shall I go on with my booked cruise? A big dilemma… but, rationalism MUST prevail… CAUTION!
