Dry downturn, Wets upturn, Geopolitics perplexed amid the Coronavirus’ anathema surge

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 13 points since last Friday the 23rd of October and now reads 1,402 points. “Surprisingly” the Wets clinched valuable points. The mega diplomatic mayhem continues with Russia and Israel’s Foreign Secretaries in Athens. The East Med mess on top of everybody’s agenda… Coronavirus spreading is now unstoppable and more curfews are on the way. Only discipline and responsibility will ease the despicable events to come, until a white knight appears from Harley Street. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:

The volatile Capes’ BCI was down 54 points and now stands at 2,207 points…

Mild rise for the Panamaxes’ BPI – the only positive size today clinching 17 valuable points bringing same up to 1,291 points…

Still stagnation with the Supras’ BSI at 972…

Minus one for the Handies’ BHSI now reading 596 points.

So all in all an uncertain Dry Market with a minor volatile ingredient… CAUTION!

A “good” day for the Wets; everything counts following a falling Wet Market. The last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 425 – up eight and 334 – up one points respectively.

The WTI as these lines are being written reads US$ 38.53, down US$ 2.40 since 23/10!

Main Stock Markets dive a bit – Dow Jones, FTSE100, DAX, S&P500 to name but a few… CAUTION…

The Geopolitical issues are going to bother us for the near future as some wish in all earnest to see Planet Ocean upside down… just wait and see…

The MIGRANTS still maintain the top position causing unnecessary harm to all involved be it in Central or East Med including the Aegean Sea. Politicians are fully to blame for..

The faulty line from Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses down to the Horn of Africa, continue to produce more tremors and we expect major “tsunamis”.  One of them being the long running saga between Greece, Cyprus and Turkey with Turkey’s president lately behaviour being monumental; his expressions for example against French President Emmanuel Macron as well as other leaders and politicians expose him and Turkey to the worse extent. CAUTION. In Athens today Russia’s and Israel’s foreign ministers met their Greek counterpart as well as prime minister Mitsotakis. Let’s see up to which limits Turkish insults will  continue against the rule of international law… Expect mess in all fronts even within the three mentioned nations and all other in the region…

BREXIT: can Michel Barnier strike a deal?

Europe on the brink of chaos… in almost all fronts.

At the other side of the Atlantic the voting continues a week before the election day; Tramp or Biden? Nothing will really change. Given the outcome there will be a Herculean task to clean USA’s Augean stables internally and externally… wonder though who will play the role of Eurystheus and who will he order… Watch this space…

China introduces sanctions against USA companies selling arms to Taiwan… CAUTION…

More geopolitical news tomorrow…

Last Saturday the 24th of October was United Nations Day… Have you noticed any difference given its 75h Anniversary? It’s either make or break…

Mind the MIGRANTS / Piracy issue… Good job done by the UK’s Special Boat Service involving stowaways hidden on board a Greek interests tanker

Coronavirus cases and death toll will rise. Remained disciplined and responsible; the first – Discipline, applies for the 7.8 billion public, the second, Responsibility applies for the undisciplined politicians coupled with greediness to allow the markets and business operate. You can see the results of endangering us for a fistful of dollars. Just over nine years ago, on the 5th of July 2011, we have included the “provision” of a pandemic with a debilitating virus in our first upload in this medium, being Greek Shipping today, an updated version from the one in BIMCO on October 2008…

Have a nice evening ensuring you continue to remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean.  Once again a big THANK YOU to all who really care for all humans – Doctors, Nurses, Seafarers, Dockers, Port Authorities et al during this Coronavirus disaster!! We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too. Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let’s work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is in red US$ 270 (twohundredandseventy) trillion…-
