Baleària retakes the Valencia – Mostaganem (Algeria) line with a weekly departure
Baleària will reopen on November 20 its maritime connections between Valencia and Mostaganem (Algeria), which had been suspended since March 2020 when the border closure was decreed. The Algerian government has authorized the shipping company to initially resume the route with a weekly service, which will depart on Saturdays from the Valencian port and on Sundays, from the port of Mostaganem, both at 6.30 pm.
Since it began operating on the route in the summer of 2016 and until March 2020, Baleària transported approximately 500,000 passengers. The line will be run by the Dénia Ciutat Creativa ferry , a ship with capacity for 399 people and 430 vehicles. The ferry will offer a service of maximum punctuality, reliability and comfort for customers, with a large seating area, cabins equipped with wardrobes, bathroom and air conditioning, equipped for passengers with reduced mobility and pet friendly, self-service and à la carte restaurant with certified halal food, prayer area, leisure spaces, houses of calm for transporting pets, and even Wi-Fi service, among others.
The general director of Baleària, Georges Bassoul, has been very satisfied with the reopening of this route since “Algeria is a strategic market where the company wants to continue growing”. “We will continue to contribute all our knowledge to maintain the excellence of the service, both in terms of comfort and benefits for passengers, as well as reliability of schedules and regularity for goods”, Bassoul pointed out.
Safety on board
During the trips, strict sanitary and cleaning protocols will be maintained to prevent contagion: hydroalcoholic gel dispensers, mandatory use of a mask, temperature measurement, and a more exhaustive disinfection and cleaning plan. In this sense, it should be remembered that Baleària, in addition to complying with the requirements of the health authorities of both Spain and Algeria, maintains the Global Safe Site Covid-19 label, certified by Bureau Veritas.
In addition, it should be remembered that all travelers must comply with the preventive health measures required by both countries at the time of boarding.
