May has seen unusually cool temperatures over a large part of France. May 2022 had been the hottest ever observed since 1900: the 25°C mark was crossed in Paris on May 9 (26.6°C) and that of 30°C (high heat threshold ) touched on May 15. In recent years, it has happened several times that 30°C has been exceeded in May, such as in 2017 (32.3°C) and 2020 (30.5°C). The monthly heat record in Paris is much older since it dates from May 29, 1944 when it was 34.8°C.

More expensive than in Paris or Lyon, the Côte d’Azur is the most expensive in France. Consumers on the Côte d’Azur would save 10 euros if they shopped 300 km further west – the price difference between a shopping basket of 50 products in the Nice region compared to Occitania – the same selection of products and the same retail brand. In Occitania the basket costs 180.97 euros and in the Côte d’Azur 190.10 euros.
