DSV Road in the UK has launched a new insurance product aimed at customers who send relatively low value shipments across Europe.
“The ‘5 for 5’ all-risk product offers up to £5, 000 of cover for just £5, ” explains Steve Hamer, Insurance & Claims Manager. “It is aimed at our groupage customers who send, for instance, one or two pallets. In many cases the insured value of the goods is below £5, 000 so we wanted to reflect that in the insurance policy and provide affordable insurance for modestly valued cargo.”
Most standard insurance policies for these shipments cost a minimum of £15/20, no matter how much the cargo is worth.
“If a customer needs to claim, there is no excess charge and we aim to handle it all within five working days on receipt of the requested documents from the client, ” says Mr Hamer. “We believe this is amongst the best insurance offers in the market.”
DSV Road offers the full range of insurance policies to its customers, whether they are shipping full truck loads of high value goods across Europe every day or just sending an occasional pallet-load to one of its customers.
Chris Malyon, Director Sales & Marketing, says DSV Road has been investing time and resources into making sure it is able to offer exactly the services and products which its customers need.
“We launched DSV Daily Pallet earlier this year because we recognize that more customers want to send smaller consignments more often to a wider range of destinations. The new 5 for 5 insurance product has been introduced as part of our response to the trend for customers to send smaller shipments.”
The DSV Daily Pallet service offers daily pick-up and departure with on-time delivery of palletised groupage shipments between 35 and 3, 500 kg to and from anywhere in Europe. It uses the long-established DSV Road network in 32 European countries with a hub near Stuttgart in Germany.
