
Recently, the “Energy House” facility in Stord, Norway, was visited by Dr. Chris Leontopoulos, Vice President of Technology at ABS, and Dr. Minas Diacakis, Senior Engineer at the ABS Global Ships Systems Center.
Accompanying them were Egil Christian Legland, ABS Business Development Manager in Norway, along with sustainability specialists Hamid Daiyan Ph.D., ABS Global Sustainability Manager, and Rene Sejer Laursen, ABS Director of Global Sustainability.

Insightful conference sessions, workshops, and a tour of the test center were attended, providing valuable understanding of future fuels and innovative systems for the maritime industry. The hydrogen electrolysis production and storage plant, as well as the ammonia refueling facility, were observed. Additionally, advancements in frequency processing within high-voltage switchboards were showcased, highlighting innovations in energy management.

A significant highlight was the observation of Wärtsilä Marine’s ammonia-fueled piston engine, which sparked numerous technical discussions. Further collaboration is anticipated to accelerate the development of innovative solutions and transformative technologies within the maritime sector.
