Small Pebbles make Huge Ripples

GreenSeas Trust’s founder, Fazilette Khan, was ‘Hero of the Week’ on Channel 5 News.

Fazilette’s story of her career at sea is the backdrop of why she set up GreenSeas Trust. It is a reminder to everyone, that individuals can make big changes when they set their mind to it. Nowadays, there is an overwhelming amount of news about the scale of plastic pollution and indeed, the climate crisis, it can be scary to think about steps to take to combat these issues.

With over 25 BinsForGreenSeas found both across the UK and internationally, it’s safe to say that Fazilette is a good guide to follow!
GreenSeas Trust inspires others to get involved. Our last newsletter spoke about the success our #ButtsInBottles competition at South Shields Marine School. Pupils collected an impressive amount of cigarette ends from their local beach. It showed the power a group of individuals can take, to make a substantial change.

If we all were to use the examples from South Shields Marine School and  Fazilette, we can do a great amount of good, both at a local and  global scale (the photo below shows what was collected in just a few hours!).

Stuck for a place to start?
The ‘Get Involved’ tab on our website has numerous ideas to help you take the first steps to combat plastic pollution. If enough individuals take these small actions, we can effectively mitigate the plastic pollution crisis.

A small pebble can make a huge ripple!
