It is also the story of how John and his wife Annette worked tirelessly to bring to life local arts and cultural institutions such as the Thunder Bay Museum, the National Exhibition Centre and the Centre for Indian Art.

In this meticulously researched story of a well life well loved, Philip Augustine, drawing on family diaries, archival research and memories of his father, gives a fascinating inside account of courtship and family life as well as as medical education and health care in the last half of the twentieth century.

Philip W. Augustine is a retired lawyer who during his 40 year legal career wrote numerous articles on legal subjects. In retirement he has written award winning screenplays on legal – historical subjects and co-produced the short film Extradition (2024). A passionate student of history, Phlip has also presented lectures on historical and cultural societies and his work has been endorsed by the Osgoode Society for Canadian Legal History.

Philip W. Augustine is married with two adult children. He lives in Ottawa with his wife of thirty-eight years and their Sheltie pup.
