A total of 1902 students from Monaco’s primary, secondary and high schools took part in this year’s Monegasque Language Competition, with the best performers advancing to oral examinations before a jury representing education, local government and cultural institutions. The competition aims to encourage the learning and preservation of the national language, with organisers emphasising the importance of passing Monaco’s heritage on to future generations. The winners will be recognised during an awards ceremony at Monaco Town Hall on June 17, while 22 lycée students have chosen to continue studying Monegasque as an optional subject this year.
