Chris Windsor CMM, the Port of Dover’s long-standing Marina Manager will be retiring at the end of this month, following an incredible 30-year service at the Kent port. Chris first joined in 1995, undertaking seasonal work as a marine services operative, before rapidly progressing through several key marina roles, and taking the reins for Dover’s marina operations from 2004.

Chris’ admirable career has seen him guide the team through huge transformation, with Dover’s modern and sustainable marina being recognised as one of the best in the world by Navily this year. The Port’s unrivalled location as the closest point of the UK to mainland Europe, iconic backdrop and inspirational heritage, make it the perfect sailing hub for visiting and annual berth holders exploring France, the Southeast coast and wider Europe.

Other notable achievements over the years under Chris’ guidance, include 5 Gold Anchor status, the new Outer Marina opening in 2021 following years of transformation, and a new boatyard, which provides an essential service for boat repairs and general maintenance.

Steve Manser, Head of Marine and Harbour Master at the Port of Dover said:

“Chris’ approach; calm and understated, but always striving for excellence, has been instrumental for the Marina’s success over the years, and the fantastic journey it has come on to become a world class marina enjoyed by hundreds of berth holders today.

“We have seen first-hand the passion that Chris has for the Marina, his team, customers and the wider Port. A combination of experience, humour, patience and quiet determination has made Chris a pleasure to work with, and he will be greatly missed!.

“However, we know that his commitment does not simply end now; it continues through the people he has supported, the standards he has helped shape, and the knowledge he has passed on.”

As previously announced, Jodie Bowman, Lead Berthing Master, will officially step into the role of Marina Operations Manager from 26th June 2026.

Jodie’s leadership, experience, commitment, and clear passion for the Marina and Boatyard will guarantee continuity, and her pride in marina operations and customer service will ensure that Dover remains a top destination now, and in the future.
