The Pebbles Campaign –
Women Who Break Waves

| Dear Friends, I’ve spent much of my working life listening to women speak candidly about their journeys, the challenges they battle every single day but also the invincible inner drive that keeps them moving forward, with focus and perseverance. That drive is in most cases associated with a deep desire to go against the flow, disrupt norms and create positive change for others. This notion is at the heart of The Pebbles, a multimedia exhibition I’ve created with photographer Sebastian Böttcher, which is also a campaign to raise awareness around the 17 UN Goals.Photo by Sebastian Boettcher |
| In each portrait, a woman holds a pebble. Look across the exhibition and you’ll see the same small gesture repeated by women whose lives have taken very different paths, among them Baroness Brenda Hale, Oleksandra Matviichuk and Stella McCartney, among the women who have sat for these portraits. I wanted to bring these women together, through this symbolic and ancestral connection, because I’m interested in the different ways that each of them creates ripples, or breaks waves, and in what became possible for others because they did. Mark your calendars: from 16 to 21 March 2027, we’ll bring these portraits together at London’s Mall Galleries. During the week, the exhibition will be open to the public and we are also hosting an opening Reception, a Roundtable on Women, POWER and legacy, and a fundraising evening in partnership with The King’s Trust’s Women Supporting Women initiative. As Global Thinkers Forum we are also celebrating our 15th anniversary and I’d love you to join us! Warmly, Elizabeth |
