Locks closed

Due to extreme high water, Brunsbuttel locks were closed today (22 October).
Both big lock chambers were put back in service at 15:00 hours. Both small lock chambers remain closed until 22:00 hrs.

Delaware Bay & Atlantic Ocean Safety Zones – Navy Exercise

To mitigate the risks associated with the Navy exercise, the Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay will enforce temporary safety zones in Delaware Bay and the North Atlantic Ocean near Cape May, New Jersey.
All of the safety zones are effective and enforced from October 16 2014 to October 24 2014 from 6:00am to 8:00pm each day. UNDERWATER OPERATIONS WITHIN THE SAFETY ZONES MAY CONTINUE BEYOND THE HOURS OF ENFORCEMENT.
The safety zones encompass two areas within Delaware Bay and one area in the North Atlantic Ocean.
The first safety zone encompasses all waters of the Delaware Bay, bounded by a line connecting the following points: latitude 38 deg. 54’10”N, longitude 075 deg. 03’12”W thence north to latitude 39 deg. 02’24”N, longitude 075 deg. 01’42”W thence southeast to latitude 38 deg. 54’22”N, longitude 075 deg. 02’18”W thence west to the point of origin.
The second safety zone encompasses all waters of the Delaware Bay, bounded by a line connecting the following points: latitude 38 deg. 54’17”N, longitude 075 deg. 07’50”W thence northwest to latitude 39 deg. 04’06”N, longitude 075 deg. 13’54”W thence northeast to latitude 39 deg. 04’39”N, longitude 075 deg. 12’39”W thence southeast to latitude 38 deg. 55’04”N, longitude 075 deg. 06’38”W thence southwest to the point of origin.
The third safety zone encompasses a portion of the North Atlantic Ocean bounded by a line connecting the following points: latitude 38 deg. 49’57”N, longitude 074 deg. 47’41”W thence northeast to latitude 38 deg. 54’28”N, longitude 074 deg. 43’15”W thence southeast to latitude 38 deg. 54’11”N, longitude 074 deg. 42’45”W thence southwest to latitude 38 deg. 49’39”N, longitude 074 deg. 47’10”W thence northwest to the point of origin, off the coast of Cap May, NJ.
Entry into, transiting, or anchoring within the safety zones is prohibited. Once operations are concluded, an informational broadcast will inform mariners that the safety zone is no longer being enforced.
The operators of any vessel requesting access to the second safety zone is required to contact the USCG Waterways Management Representative at (267) 515-7294 no later than 4:00pm, one day prior to the day of desired access. A Coast Guard representative will contact the operators requesting access at approximately 7:00pm the same day of request to advise whether or not the operator may access the zone.

Working arrangements during loader maintenance

Port Kembla Coal Terminal has advised working arrangements for maintenance of #2 loader from 22 October until 17 December.
During this period only the #1 ship loader will be operational for cargo loading. Vessels will berthed further south with the bridge marker around the 205 metre mark.
Supply of bunkers and Fresh Drinking Water will only be permitted during the night shift when there is no work being carried out

Vessels arriving from West Africa
October 22, 2014, Turkey, all ports
As per a circular issued by Turkey’s Directorate General of Health for Border and Coastal Areas, vessels entering Turkish waters from Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana and Nigeria are prohibited from having contact for any matters like crew change, provision supply, bunkering, FW supplies, etc.
Contact with such vessels is considered to be highly risky due to Ebola. Contact will only be allowed after 21 days of sailing from port in the above-mentioned countries.
