The working times at the Cape Town Container Terminal for the upcoming Easter weekend and public holiday are as follows:
Friday 3 April 2015 & Monday 6 April 2015 – Waterside: Normal operations (24/7) – Landside: 06h00 to 17h00
Friday 1 May 2015 The terminal will be closed from 06h00 on 1 May 2015 and will recommence operations at 06h00 on 2 May 2015.

Delays should be expected for inward/outward bound vessels at Jebel Ali Port due to extremely hazy and dusty weather across the UAE.
Visibility is seriously hampered as a result of the conditions.

A near-miss is defined as a sequence of events and/or conditions that could have resulted in loss. This loss was prevented only by a fortuitous break in the chain of events and/or conditions. The potential loss could be human injury, environmental damage, or negative business impact.
Reporting of near-misses plays an important role in learning from istakes, and preventing accidents and their serious consequences. All ships plying in Singapore waters and the Singapore Strait are encouraged to report to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore if near-misses are encountered and/or observed.
These reports are confidential and not intended to apportion blame or to determine liability, but to assist in improving the safety of navigation.

Reclamation work will be carried out west of Tuas View Extension from tomorrow (3 April) until 3 October.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.40 of 2015, the work will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum): 1) 01 deg. 16.767’N / 103 deg. 36.735’E 2) 01 deg. 15.745’N / 103 deg. 36.355’E 3) 01 deg. 15.659’N / 103 deg. 36.342’E 4) 01 deg. 15.659’N / 103 deg. 36.169’E 5) 01 deg. 16.427’N / 103 deg. 36.452’E 6) 01 deg. 16.815’N / 103 deg. 36.595’E
The reclamation work will include soil improvement, shore protection, sand filling, and construction of rock revetment.
Excavation will be carried out by grab dredgers. Sand filling will be carried out by crane barges and flat top barges.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to: a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area; b) Maintain a proper lookout; c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution; d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control); and e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.
