Dredging work at West Jurong Channel

With effect from 18 Aug 2015 to 17 Feb 2016, dredging work will be carried out off north west of Jurong island. The working areas are bounded by the following co-ordinates:Area A (WGS 84 Datum)Point 3: 01Ëš 16.349’N / 103Ëš 39.278’EPoint 4: 01Ëš 16.276’N / 103Ëš 39.224’E

The works will be carried out 24 hours daily, including Sundays and Public Holidays.

 

The dredging work will be carried out by dredgers held in position by spuds. The dredgers, with hopper barges in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50-meters radius centred at the dredger. The dredged materials will be transported to the designated dumping ground by hopper barges assisted by tug boats.

 

A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other craft of the project.

 

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;

b) Maintain a proper lookout;

c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;

d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control); and

e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.

Revision of tug assessment guidelines

Tug assessment guidelines have been revised for mega-container ship berthing and unberthing at container terminals to enhance navigational safety in the port.With effect from 01 October 2015, container ships that are 300 metres and more in length, and are equipped with working bow thruster(s), will be assigned 2 big tugs for berthing and unberthing at all container terminals.For information about operations in Singapore contact GAC Singapore atsingapore@gac.com

Closure of roads leading to Marina South Pier
