| Landing steps No. 1 and 2 of Central Pier No. 9 will be temporarily closed from 0900 to 1600 hours between 9 and 15 November 2015 to facilitate an exhibition of a tug which will be berthed to the landing steps during the periods mentioned above.Owners, operators, coxswains and person-in-charge of vessels are advised to use other landing facilities in the vicinity during the period of closure.For information about operations in Hong Kong contact GAC Hong Kong at shipping.hongkong@gac.com)

| Currently, all power-driven harbour and pleasure craft are required as a condition of their harbour or pleasure craft licences, to be fitted with either an IMO-compliant AIS Class A/B transponder or a MPA-approved HARTS transponder.To enhance navigation safety and security within the port of Singapore, the MPA will require all power-driven harbour and pleasure craft to be fitted with an IMO-compliant AIS Class A/B transponder 1 and an ECS 2. With effect from 1 January 2017, MPA-approved HARTS transponder will no longer be in service.MPA will be providing AIS-B transponders and ECSs (for craft with an electrical power supply) to existing power-driven harbour and pleasure craft registered before 1 July 2016.
MPA will also fund the cost of equipment and installation; and the cost of maintenance for the first two years from the date of installation. The new requirement for MPA licensed harbour and pleasure craft will take effect from1 Jan 2017. To ensure a smooth implementation, MPA will schedule the installation and testing of the equipment on harbour and pleasure craft from 15 Nov 2015. | DP World Australia and the Tasmanian Ports Corporation (Tasports) have struck a deal to bring an international container terminal to the Port of Burnie in the north-west of the state.Provided that the Coastal Shipping Act 2015 passes in the federal parliament, it is believed ships can begin entering the port in early 2017.Under the deal, DP World’s investment would include the refurbishing of the existing ship-to-shore crane, constructing a ship-to-shore crane, developing a container yard, integrating the yard with the existing rail terminal, and providing yard container handling equipment.
